Rapid Response Unit x Liverpool

A pioneering multi-media project fusing UK and international artists of various disciplines with real time news events; operating from a makeshift news bureau constructed in St John’s Shopping Centre – the bureau was fully open to the public to deposit any news they saw fit.

Turner Prize holding artist Lubaina Himid’s exploration of unconscious racism in the Guardian newspaper (in collaboration with The Guardian)

Damon Albarn and the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians creation of a new piece of music to mark St Georges Day (subsequently performed on St George’s Day at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall)

A film exploration of the female gaze undertaken by Charli XCX via the images of photographer Francesca Woodman

The first ever public work by satirical artist Coldwar Steve on the “media landscape”

A public ode to Egyptian footballer from poet and writer Musa Okwonga

The “mini daily mail” distributed freely to the public by artist Darren Cullen.

The Salesman X Trafalgar Square

From inception to delivery, the first ever public premiere for The Academy Awards – held in defiance of the Trump administration ban on Muslim majority nation citizens travelling to the US; an effective ban on Best Foreign Language nominee (and eventual winner) Asghar Farhadi, and others.
